Officials at Austin Community College announce the price of recent land purchases

Approximately $35.4 million was spent by Austin Community College to purchase five separate tracks of land as part of a land-banking effort over the last two months according to a recent ACC press release. 

The most recent acquisition was also announced in the press release. 96 acres were purchased in Kyle near Kohlers Crossing and Kyle Parkway for $9.8 million. 

The following are the five tracks the college purchased over the last two months according to the press release:

  • $3.19 million for 87 acres in Bastrop at FM 304 south of SH 71 on June 9.
  • $3.3 million for 98 acres in Elgin at U.S. Highway 290 and County Line Road on May 18.
  • $9.84 million for 96 acres in Kyle at Kohlers Crossing and Kyle Parkway on June 29.
  • $12.4 million for 100 acres in Leander at Highway 183A and County Road 269 on May 13.
  • $4 million for 18.5 acres and 194,000 sq. ft. building at Highland Mall in Austin and approximately $385,000 paid to RedLeaf Properties, LLC and sub-consultants for analysis and due diligence services on May 25.

The college come under pressure to release the amount it had paid for the recent land purchases but in the press release Stephen Kinslow, president/CEO of ACC, said that he believed the college "saved a significant amount of money by waiting to release the prices until the negotiations were complete."
