This is it. My last few hours. As I was packing up my office, I came across a card that a previous editor and a good friend gave me when she left. It says simply "Thank you for trusting me." Trust. It's what I strive for every day when working with student journalists. It's what the staff strives for with their audience. It's what forms the basis of every worthwhile relationship in our lives. I do trust the students invovled with Accent to continue doing a great job, and I trust ACC to hire someone who will trust the students and who the students will trust. These past three years serving as the adviser for ACC student media have been some of the most challenging and rewarding of my career. Accent alumni continue to impress. Christopher Smith Gonzales (Accent Editor in Chief, Fall 2010) just finished his internship with the Texas Tribune where he wrote and contributed to dozens of stories. In a tense tiebreaker, Dana Manickavasagam barely beat Ryan Brown for bragging rights as the best mini-golfer of the night. On August 27, 2008 at 3:43 pm, I created my professional Facebook account with these words: "Hi everyone, Thanks for accepting my invitation. The main reason I created this profile is so I could create the Accent fan page. There is a link to it on my profile, or you can do a search for "The Accent."
