This is it. My last few hours. As I was packing up my office, I came across a card that a previous editor and a good friend gave me when she left. It says simply "Thank you for trusting me." Trust. It's what I strive for every day when working with student journalists. It's what the staff strives for with their audience. It's what forms the basis of every worthwhile relationship in our lives. I do trust the students invovled with Accent to continue doing a great job, and I trust ACC to hire someone who will trust the students and who the students will trust. These past three years serving as the adviser for ACC student media have been some of the most challenging and rewarding of my career. Accent alumni continue to impress. Christopher Smith Gonzales (Accent Editor in Chief, Fall 2010) just finished his internship with the Texas Tribune where he wrote and contributed to dozens of stories. He just landed a full time staff position with "Texas' Oldest Newspaper," The Daily News of Galveston County . ______________________________ Natalee Blanchat (Accent Campus Editor, Spring 2011) transfered to Texas A&M where she promptly started writing for the Battalion newspaper and has already published several quality pieces. ______________________________ Busy as always, Sarah Vasquez (Accent Assistant Editor, Spring 2011) graduated from ACC in May, completed a fellowship with the Poynter institute, is currently working as an intern with KUT, contributes to ...Peter Pan Announcements

In a tense tiebreaker, Dana Manickavasagam barely beat Ryan Brown for bragging rights as the best mini-golfer of the night. In addition to the epic golf battles, attendees also enjoyed food, prizes, and each other's company. I also officially announced the Fall 2011 Accent staff. On August 27, 2008 at 3:43 pm, I created my professional Facebook account with these words: "Hi everyone, Thanks for accepting my invitation. The main reason I created this profile is so I could create the Accent fan page. There is a link to it on my profile, or you can do a search for "The Accent." The image below is a word cloud of everything posted on my wall over the past three years.
