ACC reacts to President Barack Obama's speech at UT Austin

A crowd of nearly 3,000 pack the Gregory Gym on the UT Austin campus to hear President Obama speak on August 9, 2010. The crowd included dozens of ACC students who received tickets through the office of Student Life.

President Obama's speech focuses mainly on education and the importance of earning a college degree.

After the speech, President Obama greets some of the students in the audience. Representatives from ACC's Student Government Association were amoung those who were able to shake hands with the president. They also handed their resolution in support of the DREAM act to a member of his security team.

President Barack Obama spoke at the University of Texas, Austin campus on August 9, and 75 Austin Community College students attended the event.

The President spoke about the importance of education in the United States and of his plans to make sure higher education is affordable and attainable. The President also spoke of the role community colleges play.

Along with ACC students, members of the ACC administration and board of trustees were in attendance.
