Investigative Reporting for Accent Having read Morales's 13 March 2007 article via the Accent Online "Posts" archives, I want to comment on a related experience. While a staff writer for the Accent a couple of semesters ago, I asked an ACCPD officer how to consult the department about a story idea dealing with crime on campus. His response was, "That guy [the Editor] is probably just trying to get you in trouble." Grant Riesinger

It's hard to think that Hillary's perceptions weren't colored by what she expected to see in this church. That's in basic psychology. If enough of our peers tell us Jennifer Aniston is drop-dead gorgeous, most of us will believe it. Or at least we'll say "Yeah" when someone else says it so we don't seem out of step with the crowd. Rio Grande Parking As an ACC student as well as a participant at Jazzercise at the Austin Recreation Center, I was delighted to see that preparation is being made to demolish the old Austin High gym on Shoal Creek across the parking lot from the Rec Center. I was amazed to find out that rather than building a parking facility in this spot the city intends to build a skate park. Is there any update to the parking situation at Rio Grande? It has been so bad for so long that I had almost given up hope until I saw the demolition starting, but it seems that plans for this space will exacerbate the situation rather than help.

(Editor Responds) Patricia, the city of Austin's second skate park is planned for the site of the former Austin Athletic Club, although construction is planned to begin in the spring on a $15 million, 400-car parking garage near the Skills Center at 12th Street and Shoal Creek Boulevard. Although much smaller than originally envisioned (some 1,200 spaces), ACC officials are moving forward on the project and are looking into property around the campus for additional spaces. Editor
