Construction method chosen for Rio Grande expansions
The Board approved a construction method for the Rio Grande Campus faculty office complex and parking renovations at the campus. Due to the complexity of the project, a construction manager at risk was chosen to provide a "team approach" between ACC, architects, engineers, and contractors.
Growth of ACC's taxing district
The Board addressed territory outside the ACC taxing district annexed by the city of Austin in 2005. Staff requested that the board declare the area into the taxing district under the Texas Education Code, which authorizes the board of junior colleges to annex any space added to a municipality if the school district has already annexed the entire municipality.
Educational programs addressed
The Board discussed its Community Priorities Declaration and staff reports on educational programs, reaffirming that the college will continue to fund all instructional programs appropriately, and adding or reducing classes within programs based on previous semesters' enrollment. The declaration also included a balanced budget priority by the end of the academic year.
Parking expansion at South Austin Campus moves ahead
Discussion was held regarding an agreement with the Austin Independent School District for a cooperative parking lot between South Austin Campus and Crockett High School.
