Liberal support

Dear College Veteran,

I enjoyed your article! Such an objective view of what some of the soldiers over there experience initially. Everyone has their opinion on the war and they are entitled to share it ... yell it, even ... freely, without persecution. That is the beauty of this country, and worth fighting for. That being said, whether the battle in Iraq is actually protecting freedom and not feeding corporate/political greed has yet to be proven, your dedication to the service is admirable, and I thank you.

Pit bulls [Nov. 26]

Dear Editor,

This article is filled with so many unbelievable outright lies and false statements that I don't even know where to begin. American Pit Bull Terriers were originally the "all-American" dog: ranch hands, nursemaids to children, companions, and overall family pets. To desecrate their name with this bogus article is a dire affront to this most wonderful breed. What we need in order to fix the problems associated with this breed presently is to go after the MEN that are abusing and torturing these beautiful souls to make of them something that they do not want to be. My pit bulls live in harmony with cats, dogs, rabbits, and people, as do many of the other pit bulls I know.

What, as usual, shoddy, unprofessional writing this article is in the name of journalism. You should be ashamed of yourself- you might as well have lived in Salem during the witch hunts. GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT and don't rely sensationalism and false reporting. I really cannot even fathom the conscience of the one who wrote this piece of trash - and the ones who allowed it to be published!

Totally bogus and embarrassing as well as shameful!

Handguns in the classroom [Dec. 10]

If someone is contemplating violence at a place of learning - a college campus, for instance - then a law prohibiting concealed guns on one's person is not going to give them a moment's pause. However, it will help to make "victims" out of that person's classmates, leaving them unarmed.

Concealed carry, along with all training it involves, should be allowed everywhere.

I have always said that anyone who can carry legally should be able to carry anywhere, anytime. Those that carry illegally, already do.

Ghost hunting nonsense needs to go [Nov. 26]

If you are such an expert of scientific study, then you would already know that the process of science starts with unproven and sometimes outrageous theories that are researched and investigated by numerous people to prove them as true or false.

Your comments suggest that people who have participated in this course are easily manipulated and incapable of logical thinking. I believe the interest in the unexplained suggests otherwise. I think many of the students who take an interest in this field do not take others assumptions or theories at face value, and are in fact quite logical thinkers and are searching for answers themselves. Can you name a scientist who has not done the same?

That being said, this course ... it's just for fun, dude.
