Top five restaurants to eat at SXSW

Tony's Southern Comfort Food

1201 E. 6th St.

One of my favorite restaurants. It's conveniently located on the east side of I-35 when I want to get some time away from the chaos of Sixth Street. I have yet to find another great home-cooking restaurant that doesn't affect my poor college kid budget.

Little City Expresso Bar/Café

916 Congress Ave.

Call me a non-conformist, but I would rather walk an extra three blocks down Congress to get my pick-me-up latte from Little City than the easy-to-reach Starbucks that is always filled with uninformed SXSW attendees. The service is always great and quick.

Marisco Grill

211 E. Sixth St.

I was raised Catholic, so I have a habit of eating fish on Fridays during Lent. This Mexican restaurant will set you back a bit financially, but they have really great shrimp enchiladas. It's becoming one of my SXSW traditions to order that meal on a Friday afternoon between shows.

Go Bites

600 E. Sixth St. at Red River

I just discovered this place last year, but it's very good. Where else can you get a variety of grilled cheese sandwiches or sliders on a small kitchen on Red River? The location is between Emo's and Emo's Lounge. Look for a random door with the Go Bites logo above it.

Star Seeds

3101 N IH 35

I'm always ready to refuel after spending eight to nine hours checking out show after show all over Austin. Even though it's definitely away from downtown Austin, Star Seeds is always ready to satisfy my craving for breakfast at 3:00 in the morning.
