SGA candidate: Thomas Abney

Hi,

My name is Thomas Abney and I am asking for your vote for the president of the Student Government. I have served as the Finance Chair for the Campus Activity Executive Board since the fall of 2006.

I am running for president because I believe that in order for the campus community to become engaged, we need easy access to interactive communication where we can all express our views, concerns, and suggestions. We are fortunate to live in a world where communication takes place on the Internet 24 hours a day, seven days a week, yet often students feel they don't know how to have their voices heard when they have thoughts and stories to share about their campus experience. By our very nature we are social people, which is why we need to capitalize on our "connected" web society and join together to make a difference on our campus

It is my goal to bring the student body together through web forums that address the interests of all students! I would like to create an "Our Space" website where students send photos, express views, share motivational stories, make suggestions, and interact! Notoriously, there is a disconnect between the student government and the student body, which is why those elected to serve should be required to participate on "Our Space."

In the end, our college experience is of our own making, but it takes all of us working together to create the best ACC campuses possible.
