Hilary Duff is considered by many influential pop culture magazines to be one of the hardest working teens in the business. One would think that this 19-year-old pop-singing sensation would have learned a thing or two from her years and grow as a musician. She started out on "Lizzie McGuire" as a child and moved into movies, and is now shelling out clothing lines, perfumes and albums left and right.
Giving her slack with her former albums for being so young, I winced at the tracks on her newest album "Dignity." I thought that she must certainly have some confidence to put out something like this and think that it was good. Every track sounds exactly the same with the same conga-like dance club beat to it.
With lyrics like "I know sometimes I can be\All wrapped up and into me\I can be in such a rush," from "With Love," I wonder what kind of person this girl really is. Is she really this cute little girl she portrays herself to be or is she stuck up and snobby like we all suspect she is?
"Dignity" also reveals a slower side for the Duff loving audience, but keeps the synthesizer and club remixes. This confuses me considering that there are three different remixes for "With Love" on Duff's MySpace profile that alter the different club sounds against the lyrics.
For my final word on this album I really don't know what to say. I went into this knowing that it would be full-on pop, but I never expected that it would be this bad. If she would drop the club remixes and the little pre-teen lyrics this girl could really be a musician.
Unless you want to get that pre-club pump up or if Britney Spears is your thing I wouldn't recommend this album to anyone.
