Faculty and students gathered at Eastview Campus Oct. 23 to offer free health and fitness screenings as part of the Physical Therapist Assistant Program.
Organizers assessed students' body fat composition, posture, hamstring flexibility, grip strength, balance, and diabetes risk during the open house.
The event is part of national Physical Therapy Month, which is focusing on the obesity epidemic as part of this year's theme, "The Science of Healing, the Art of Caring."
"The role that physical activity plays in preventing and managing obesity in children and adults is the focus of this month's celebration," says Jana Israel, PTA Program chair. "Physical Therapy Month provides members with the opportunity to educate the community about who we are and what we do."
